Broken Lamp Switch No More

My hubby and I have matching lamps and mind you they are from Target but so trendy in polished nickel. His twisty on switch stem thingy broke and he has been unplugging it behind our king bed.

The hardware store sells a touch lamp adapter you plug in the wall and the lamp cord plugs into it. Now when you touch the lamp it turns on in 3 different light levels. Seriously fixed in 5 seconds and it makes it so easy that I am thinking of adding it to all my lamps, so I don't have to twist my arm up in the light to turn it on. So many great gadgets out there!

Drinking those 8 glasses of water

I am the worst at getting 8 glasses of water in per day. Seems so unreasonable! I have tricked myself into thinking coffee counts since it has water in it. Wrong- doesn't count. So I'm turning over a new leaf and not getting sidetracked today (can't determine my frame of mind beyond that). You actually should take how much you weight and divide that in half. That number is the number of ounces you should drink per day. I weight 126/2 is 63 ounces per day.

Put rubber bands on the bottom of your glass and when you drink a glass of water you get to remove one. Then hopefully this visual will keep you in check and motivated to finish.

Bread Clips for Organizing Cords

Not much to explain on this great tip. Bread clips can organize those confusing cords on what goes to what fast. Permanent marker is all you need. This would have been a great tip back in the 80s so we all didn't have to reset that silly flashing clock!

Fun Letters and Numbers Scratchpad!

We are in the midst of our first year of homeschooling three kids here in sunny Cali. We also have a two year old and 6 month old to keep busy too! I am surprised at the scrap paper we go through practicing letters and numbers and all the eraser bits everywhere. So this tip has brought some fun and has multiple functions.

Take plain yogurt and simply mix in your favorite real fruit jelly in a bowl to add a bit of color and taste. Add about three spoonfuls to a sandwich sized zip lock baggie. Lay flat on a table or put a colorful folder under it to really make the letters stand out. With a Q-Tip let your little one push down and draw! Show them how to put their hand flat on it to level it off again for new creations.

When they are finished, push the yogurt down to the bottom and get any air out. Roll down the bag to make it a long tube of yogurt and freeze. They can cut the top off and there you have a super cost effective and fun treat too!
